Effective Date: Aug 10, 2026  •  Last Updated: Aug 10, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how AK NotiBox: Recover Messages ("the App," "we," "us") accesses, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the App. It is written to comply with the Google Play Developer Program Policies, including the User Data policy, the Permissions and APIs that Access Sensitive Information policy, and the Notification Access / Notification Listener policy.

By installing or using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Core Functionality and Why We Need Notification Access

The App's core, user-facing purpose is to save a local history of notifications your device receives, so you can review them later even after the original notification is dismissed by the sending app.

To do this, the App requests Android's Notification Access permission (BIND_NOTIFICATION_LISTENER_SERVICE). This is a restricted permission, and we only request it because it is strictly necessary for the App's advertised core functionality — nothing else.

When you enable Notification Access, the App can read notifications that Android delivers to your device in order to:

We do not use Notification Access for any purpose beyond this. We do not use it to serve ads, profile you, or share notification content with any third party.

1.1 Permission Breakdown

A. Notification Access (Notification Listener Service)

B. Internet Access

We do not use any permission to spy on you, monitor you covertly, or send your personal content to third parties.

In-app disclosure

Consistent with Google Play's Prominent Disclosure requirement, the App also shows an in-app disclosure screen the first time you are asked to grant Notification Access. This screen explains, in plain language, what will be accessed and why, before you are sent to the Android system settings screen to grant or deny the permission. You may decline, and the App will continue to function for any features that do not depend on notification history.

This in-app disclosure is separate from, and in addition to, this Privacy Policy — it is not a substitute for it, and this Privacy Policy is not a substitute for it either.

2. What Data We Access and Where It Is Stored

All notification data is stored locally on your device only, in a private, app-scoped SQLite (Room) database that other apps cannot access.

Locally stored data may include:

We do not upload, transmit, back up, or sync this notification data to any server we operate, and we do not have remote access to it. It never leaves your device unless you personally export, screenshot, or otherwise share it yourself.

3. Data We Do NOT Collect

The App does not access, collect, or store:

The App also does not read, intercept, or recover messages directly from any messaging service, database, or server. It only stores what Android hands to it through the Notification Listener API while the permission is enabled.

4. Internet Access and Third-Party Services

The App uses internet access only for:

Notification history and its content are never included in any network request, analytics event, or advertising payload sent by the App. Analytics and advertising SDKs never receive notification titles, text, sender names, or icons.

4.1 Google AdMob

AdMob may automatically collect technical information for ad delivery and measurement, such as:

This is processed by Google under Google's Privacy Policy and, where applicable, AdMob's data collection disclosures.

4.2 Firebase Analytics

Firebase Analytics may automatically collect:

Firebase Analytics does not receive your locally stored notification history.

4.3 Google Play Services

The App may rely on Google Play Services for certain platform functionality. These services operate under Google's own Privacy Policy.

5. Data Sharing and Sale

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your locally stored notification history with any third party, advertiser, analytics provider, or data broker, under any circumstances.

The only outbound data flows from the App are the technical/advertising identifiers described in Section 4, which are processed directly by Google (AdMob, Firebase) under their own policies — we do not separately resell or repackage this data.

If we are legally compelled to disclose information (e.g., valid legal process), because notification history lives only on your device and not on our servers, we do not hold a copy to disclose.

6. Data Security

Notification history is stored in an app-private database that Android sandboxes from other apps. We follow standard Android secure-storage practices. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, especially if your device itself is compromised, rooted, or accessed by someone with physical access.

7. Your Choices and Rights

You can, at any time:

7.1 GDPR (EEA/UK users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or UK, our legal basis for processing the limited technical data described in Section 4 is our legitimate interest in operating and improving the App, and, where required, your consent (e.g., for personalized advertising, collected via the App's consent screen). You have the right to access, correct, delete, or port data concerning you, and the right to object to or restrict certain processing. Because notification history is stored solely on your device, most such requests are self-serviceable through Section 7's controls; for anything else, contact us using Section 11.

7.2 CCPA/CPRA (California users)

We do not sell notification history. Advertising identifiers processed via AdMob may constitute a "sale" or "share" under CCPA's broad definition unless restricted. You may opt out of this by using your device's ad personalization settings.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data through the App, contact us at the email in Section 11 and we will address it.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in the App or applicable law. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. This policy is hosted at a stable, non-editable-by-others URL, in accordance with Google Play requirements, and is not distributed as a PDF.
